Your Subconscious Beliefs & Self Image
We all have a self image.
Your self image has been created through a lifetime of conditioning and consists of your beliefs about yourself.
For the most part, you had no control over the development of your self image or beliefs.
Through your earlier life, your subconscious mind was wide open and it soaked up everything you experienced in your environment like a sponge.
This happened because your brain had not yet developed so your conscious mind wasn’t able to think rationally about the experiences you were having.
Now you’re an adult so you can think consciously but back then, you were in “deep-learning” mode.
That’s when you were developing your ideas, your beliefs and your “self-image”.
If you’ve never taken the time to reflect on your beliefs or self image, you’re just going to get whatever beliefs and ideas are already stored in your subconscious mind.
If you’re not experiencing the life you want to be experiencing, that’s what you want to address.
If you have anxiety, it’s because you don’t believe you’re safe within yourself.
If you’re stuck in negative thought loops, it’s because you believe you’re always going to get the worst case outcome.
If you’re not sure what your self image is, here’s something to try…
One of the ways you can start to understand what self image you have, is through self-reflection and exploring the idea of expectation.
Q. How do you currently see yourself?
Q. What image comes to mind when you think about yourself? Is it an image of confidence, power and prosperity or an image or nervousness, lack and scarcity?
Q. If you had to explain who you are, what would you say?
Take 5-minutes to answer these questions now.
You will always get what you expect in life, sometimes you have positive expectations and sometimes you have negative expectations.
When you think about your goals in life…
Q. What are you expecting to happen?
You can take these questions and apply them to any area of your life that you’re working on.
E.g. Relationships, Money, Business, Career, Health, Wellbeing etc
The ideas you are holding in your mind will always be expressed into your life.
This is because you are a 3-part being:
1. You are a spiritual being.
2. You have access to a mind.
3. You live in a physical body.
Spirit - Awareness & Consciousness (An Ocean of Potential & Possibility)
Mind - Intellect & Reasoning Capabilities (Ability to Choose Mental Thoughts)
Body - Behaviours, Compulsions, Actions (The Creation of Physical Results)
Your Mind has 2-parts:
- The Conscious Mind
- The Subconscious Mind
Your self image and beliefs live in your subconscious mind.
You can change your subconscious mind by using the power of your conscious mind.
The Power of Your Conscious Mind
Your conscious mind is capable of being the gatekeeper for the information that goes into your subconscious mind
When you were a child, you didn’t have this capability.
When you were a child, your subconscious mind was wide open to any information you were receiving.
As you grow into an adult, your brain develops and you develop the ability to reason and think clearly.
It’s important to note that most people don’t use this conscious function of their mind.
You are not most people.
You are a Conscious Creator.
There are 2 main functions of your conscious mind:
Inductive Reasoning Function: When you are consciously thinking and filtering information going into your subconscious mind.
Deductive Reasoning Function: When you are not thinking and any information you receive goes straight into your subconscious mind.
Children live in a deductive state.
You have the choice to live in an inductive state.
When you harness the power of your conscious mind and your inductive reasoning function, you can create new thoughts in your mind which lead to new beliefs and a new self image.
This is how your self image and beliefs create the results in your life and this is how we can use the conscious mind to change the beliefs, change the self image and therefore change the results.
How To Destroy Your Addiction To Negative Thinking
You must harness the power of your conscious mind and use your inductive reasoning function to create a new self image.
I asked you a few questions at the start of this post…
Q. How do you currently see yourself?
Q. If you had to explain who you are, what would you say?
Q. What are you expecting to happen in your life?
If your answers to these questions are not currently in alignment with the person who you want to be and the way you want to think, you need to change them.

It’s a model for reprogramming your mind and it looks like this…

You start by creating new thoughts (You can do this by using your inductive reasoning function).
When you create new thoughts, you will see they stimulate new emotions.
This is science-backed by a field of study called neuro-physiology.
Thoughts send electrochemical signals called neurotransmitters from the brain to the body through the nervous system.
- Negative thoughts = stressful emotions
- Positive thoughts = happy emotions
When you create new thoughts, you create new emotions and when you have your thoughts and emotions working in harmony, over time, you create new beliefs and a new self image.
When you have new beliefs and a new self image, your RAS (reticular activating system) picks up those new beliefs and looks for confirmation of them in your reality.
With practice, you become convicted in your new beliefs and self image and you start to experience a whole new life.
